IVF Treatment: The Path to Your Parenthood Dream

At Medicci Aesthetic, we are delighted to be by your side on this special journey towards parenthood. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment, combined with advancing medical technologies, offers a promising and effective solution for couples who are unable to conceive. By utilizing the latest technologies and personalized approaches, we aim to make this process as comfortable and successful as possible for you.

What is IVF Treatment?

IVF treatment is a procedure where female reproductive cells (eggs) are taken from the prospective mother, and male reproductive cells (sperm) are taken from the prospective father. These are then fertilized in a laboratory setting, and the resulting embryo is transferred to the prospective mother's uterus. This is the most common and successful assisted reproductive technique for couples who cannot achieve pregnancy through natural means.

Who Can Benefit from IVF Treatment?

IVF treatment is a suitable option for couples with various causes of infertility, including:

  • Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes.
  • Male-factor infertility (low sperm count or motility).
  • Endometriosis.
  • Ovulation disorders.
  • Unexplained infertility.
  • Couples who are carriers of genetic diseases.
  • Women over the age of 38 experiencing prolonged time to conceive.

Techniques

Advanced Techniques to Increase Success Rates

At Medicci Aesthetic, we use state-of-the-art methods to maximize your chances of success with IVF treatment.

  • Frozen Embryo Transfer: Embryos are frozen for later transfer in situations where a fresh transfer is not suitable or if genetic testing is required.
  • Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT): We select the most suitable embryo by checking if it is genetically healthy. This is especially important for patients with a history of recurrent failed attempts or those in an advanced age group.
  • Embryo Glue: This special culture medium, containing hyaluronate, helps the embryo attach more easily to the uterine wall.
  • IMSI Method: This technique allows for the selection of the healthiest sperm by examining them at 6000-8000 times magnification.
  • Killer Cell (Serum) Therapy: This treatment regulates immunological factors that may prevent embryo implantation, thereby increasing the chances of success.
  • Uterine Scratching (Hysteroscopy): A method aimed at renewing the uterine lining in cases of recurrent implantation failure.

Process Stages

IVF Treatment Process Stages

At our Medicci Aesthetic clinic, the IVF treatment process is meticulously planned, and every stage is managed by our expert team.

  • Initial Evaluation and Planning: Before starting treatment, the couple's general health, causes of infertility, and hormone levels are examined in detail. This stage includes tests such as blood work, ultrasound, and sperm analysis. Based on this data, a personalized treatment protocol is created for you.
  • Ovarian Stimulation (Ovulation Induction): Starting on the 2nd or 3rd day of your menstrual cycle, hormone medications are used to encourage your ovaries to produce more eggs. This process usually lasts 8-12 days, with the development of the eggs closely monitored by ultrasound.
  • Egg Retrieval (OPU): When the eggs reach the desired maturity, they are retrieved from the follicles using a thin needle under anesthesia and with the guidance of a vaginal ultrasound. This procedure takes an average of 15-20 minutes and is generally painless.
  • Sperm Retrieval and Fertilization: On the same day as egg retrieval, a sperm sample is collected from the male and processed in the laboratory. The collected eggs and selected high-quality sperm are then combined to perform fertilization. Advanced techniques such as microinjection (ICSI) are used when necessary.
  • Embryo Development and Monitoring: The embryos formed after fertilization are left to develop for 3 to 5 days in a special culture medium. During this process, the quality and development of the embryos are continuously monitored, and the healthiest ones are selected for transfer.
  • Embryo Transfer: The selected embryos are placed into the uterus using a special catheter in a painless procedure that does not require anesthesia. In accordance with legal regulations in our country, the number of embryos to be transferred is determined by age and treatment history.
  • Pregnancy Test and Follow-up: Approximately 12-14 days after the embryo transfer, a blood test is performed to check for pregnancy. If the result is positive, pregnancy follow-up begins under the guidance of our specialist physician.

Pre-Procedure

Pre-Procedure: Step-by-Step Preparation for Success

To achieve the highest success rate in IVF treatment, there are important tasks for both our clinic and you to complete before the treatment begins.

What We Do at Medicci Aesthetic:

  • Detailed Evaluation and Tests: We conduct comprehensive tests to determine the couple's health history, hormone levels, and possible genetic factors. These tests include steps such as ultrasound examinations, blood tests, and sperm analysis.
  • Personalized Treatment Plan: We evaluate all the data obtained with our expert team to determine the most suitable treatment protocol for you. Drug dosages and treatment duration are planned by considering your age, egg reserve, and other health conditions.
  • Psychological Support: We understand that this process can be emotionally challenging. Therefore, we stand by you with our psychological support services before and during treatment, answering all your questions and preparing you for the process.

What You Should Do:

  • Lifestyle Changes: Adopting a healthy lifestyle before treatment is very important. Quitting smoking and alcohol, eating a balanced diet, and exercising regularly will increase your chances of success.
  • Medication Use: You should be careful to use the vitamins and supplements prescribed by your physician regularly. You should always consult your doctor before using any medication during the treatment process.
  • Stress Reduction: You can prepare yourself physically and mentally for the treatment by staying away from stress with yoga, meditation, or your favorite hobbies.
  • Following Doctor's Instructions: It is critically important to strictly follow all instructions given by your physician, especially in the period before egg retrieval, for the treatment to proceed smoothly.

Post-Procedure

Post-Procedure

Post-Procedure: The Waiting Period and Support

After embryo transfer, one of the most exciting stages of IVF treatment, our clinic's support continues.

What We Do at Medicci Aesthetic:

  • Post-Transfer Follow-up: Our special support and follow-up program continues for 12-14 days after the transfer until the day the pregnancy test is scheduled.
  • Comprehensive Guidance: During this waiting period, we provide you with detailed information about possible symptoms, what to do, and what to avoid, to clear up any questions you may have.
  • Pregnancy Test and Result Evaluation: If the pregnancy test is positive, we schedule the necessary follow-up appointments for a healthy pregnancy and refer you to our pregnancy specialists.

What You Should Do:

  • Rest: It is recommended that you rest for a few days after embryo transfer. You should avoid heavy physical activities and strenuous exercise.
  • Continue Medications: You should continue to use the medications your physician has given to support the embryo's implantation (usually progesterone) regularly and in the correct doses.
  • Light and Balanced Diet: You can support your body by avoiding foods that may cause constipation, drinking plenty of fluids, and eating fiber-rich foods.
  • Stay Positive: It is very important to stay positive and take good care of yourself during this process. Believing you will have a positive outcome will help you reduce stress and get through the process more comfortably.
  • Emergency Situations: If you experience unexpected pain, bleeding, or discomfort, you should contact our clinic immediately for information.

Before & After

Frequently Asked Questions

Is embryo transfer a painful procedure?

No, embryo transfer is generally a painless procedure that does not require anesthesia. The embryos are placed into the uterus using a thin, flexible catheter through the cervix. This procedure is similar to a gynecological examination and is usually completed within a few minutes.

Is the success of a frozen embryo transfer as high as a fresh transfer?

Yes, thanks to modern freezing and thawing techniques, the success rates of frozen embryo transfer (FET) are very similar to fresh embryo transfer, and in some cases, they may even be higher.

What factors can cause IVF treatment to fail?

The most important factors affecting success are the woman's age, the quality of the eggs and sperm, the cause of infertility, the health of the uterine lining, and the genetic structure of the embryo.

Does age affect the success rate of IVF?

Yes, a woman's age is one of the most significant factors affecting the success rate of IVF. The chance of success is higher at a younger age, while success rates tend to decrease after age 40.

How many eggs are needed for IVF?

Ideally, in IVF, it is desirable to obtain more than one egg to create an embryo pool. The greater the number of eggs, the higher the chance of obtaining good-quality embryos and selecting the most suitable one for transfer. However, this is not the only indicator of egg quality. Successful pregnancies can also be achieved with a small number of eggs.

When can I try again after a failed attempt?

After an unsuccessful attempt, your physician may recommend that you wait one menstrual cycle for your body to recover. This period also provides an opportunity for a detailed evaluation and planning for the next attempt.

What tests are required for IVF?

Before starting treatment, a series of tests are performed for both the woman and the man. For women: Hormone tests (AMH, FSH, E2, LH), ultrasound evaluation of the uterus and ovaries, hysterosalpingography (HSG), and genetic tests. For men: Semen analysis (spermiogram), hormone tests, and genetic tests if necessary.

How long does IVF treatment take?

A single IVF cycle, from the initial evaluation phase to the pregnancy test, takes approximately 2-3 weeks. However, this duration can vary according to the individual's specific treatment protocol.

What is the risk of multiple pregnancies in IVF treatment?

The risk of multiple pregnancies depends on the number of embryos transferred. To minimize this risk, your physician will determine the ideal number of embryos to be transferred based on your age and treatment history. Legal regulations in our country also play a decisive role in this matter.

Can I continue my work life during the treatment?

During the ovarian stimulation phase of the treatment, you can continue your daily life. However, since the egg retrieval procedure is performed under anesthesia, it is recommended that you rest on that day. After the embryo transfer, resting for a few days as advised by your physician can increase the chances of success.
