What is the key feature of 3D Facial Reshaping?

The main principle of 3D Facial Reshaping is separating the facial skin from the soft tissues and tightening it. The skin incision is made in a hidden area whenever possible to conceal the scar. The tightening effect is not achieved by pulling the skin itself.

Instead, rejuvenation is created by repositioning and adjusting the deeper layer called the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System). This two-layer lifting technique provides a much more natural rejuvenation effect, especially compared with earlier methods that only tightened the surface skin.

In addition, while the SMAS lift redistributes superficial fat, it cannot replace the volume lost due to aging. To address this, various fillers are used to restore volume, creating a three-dimensional rejuvenation effect.

Techniques

3D Facial Reshaping Procedure

3D Facial Reshaping is not just a skin-only surgical procedure. It involves the SMAS layer, subcutaneous fat tissues, fat pads, fascia, and ligaments. With this technique, you can regain a more youthful appearance from years past, and its effects can last for many years.

The surgery begins with a short incision starting behind the ear. The skin is lifted from the side of the nose to the nasolabial fold and, for the neck, behind the ear. The malar fat pad (the soft tissue forming the cheekbone), cheek area, and jawline are addressed through the SMAS layer. Plication, meaning stitches that redefine the facial contours, is then performed.

Excess fat tissues and foreign materials are removed; sagging cheekbones, neck, and jawline with disrupted anatomy are restored to their former positions and secured in place. Excess skin is trimmed and removed. The skin is then sutured to create a tight face, prominent cheekbones, and an elegant jawline and neckline. Drainage is placed to prevent potential internal bleeding.

At the same time, eyelid and lip lifts can also be performed. The procedure is completed with the application of dressings.
