Cheek Aesthetics, Hollow Cheeks, and Mid-Face Rejuvenation

In youth, cheeks are full and fresh, but as we age, they lose volume and appear sunken. In some individuals, cheeks are overly flat and hollow, while in others, they appear undesirably plump and round. This is where cheek aesthetics plays a significant role.

Buccal Fat (Full Cheeks)

In some young individuals, cheeks are fuller than normal. While firm cheeks are a sign of youth, excessive fullness can make the face appear overweight. Through a simple procedure, a small amount of fat tissue is removed from the mid-cheek area. The intervention is minor and does not prevent returning to work the next day.

Once the cheeks are slimmed, the cheekbones and jawline become more defined, and a contour is created from the corner of the mouth toward the ear. As observed in many famous photo models, this region of the face is considered one of the most important criteria for beauty. Starting from the upper part of the face, the prominence of the cheekbones and jawline is essential for ideal facial proportions.

Sagging and Hollow Cheeks

At a younger age, many types of fillers are available to plump the cheeks; however, none are as effective or long-lasting as tissue cocktails. Sometimes two or three sessions may be required. As aging progresses, cheek lifts and mid-face lifts become unavoidable.

When fillers are used after the age of 45–50, they can cause swelling around the mouth and cheeks, creating an unnatural and anatomically incorrect appearance, similar to being stung by a bee. Unfortunately, many practitioners who are involved in aesthetics but not trained in plastic surgery continue to use such fillers to convince patients who fear surgery. This often results in abnormal-looking faces where unnecessary procedures have been applied.

Thanks to advanced surgical techniques and optical systems, these procedures can now be performed minimally invasively with small incisions using endoscopic (closed system) methods.

In mid-face rejuvenation, endoscopic lifting of the cheeks not only corrects sagging in the cheeks but also improves the tissues under the eyes, creating a highly natural and normal appearance. This is one of the most effective treatment techniques after the age of 45, and it provides long-lasting results that endure for many years.
